The Global Peace Photo Award 2024 continues its tradition of celebrating outstanding photographic art that fosters peace. Inspired by the pioneering efforts of Alfred Fried and Tobias Asser, 1911 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, this competition seeks images that encapsulate the ideal of a harmonious future where peaceful coexistence prevails. The award underscores the power of visual storytelling to influence, inspire, and inform global communities about the importance of peace. It promotes a wide array of photographic works, ranging from personal artistic expressions to powerful photojournalistic accounts, all unified by the theme of peace.
Annually attracting entries from around the globe, the Global Peace Photo Award serves as a platform for photographers to showcase their work on an international stage. By highlighting human aspirations and actions towards peace, the award plays a critical role in raising awareness and sparking conversations about peace. The award emphasizes the influence of photography in capturing and defining the zeitgeist of our times where the quest for peace and beauty becomes increasingly pivotal against a backdrop of global unrest. The contributions of diverse photographers highlight the universal desire for a peaceful existence, bridging cultural and geographic divides.
The competition is supported by a collaboration of prestigious organizations, including UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, and various global photographic societies. This partnership underscores the commitment to fostering a culture of peace through the arts. The Global Peace Photo Award not only honors photographers who skillfully capture compelling narratives of peace but also encourages a broader dialogue about the visual representation of peaceful coexistence. The award’s focus on both the artistic and humanitarian aspects of photography makes it a significant event in the photographic and global peace communities.
