Illustraciència is an illustration contest organised by the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid and the Catalan Association of Science Communication in Barcelona.

Their goal is to promote scientific illustration in all its forms and reward the work of scientific illustrators through the call for the International Award on Scientific Illustration. For each edition, an itinerant collective exhibition and a catalogue with the 40 selected works are made.

There are three categories:
• Scientific illustration
• Naturalist illustration
• Cajal Year (illustration must be related to neuroscience)

The subject of the illustrations must be related to science or nature and the technique is free. The work must have been created between January 2022 and 31 March 2023. Each participant may submit one illustration only.

There is no entry fee.

Eligibility

Open worldwide to illustrators over the age of 18.

Prize

The winner in each category will receive 1000 EUR (approx. 1,070 USD).
