The International Poster Triennial in Toyama 2027 (IPT2027) is calling for entries to its 15th edition, inviting poster designers from around the world to submit their work. Organised by the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design in Japan, the exhibition has been held every three years since 1985. Selected posters are scheduled to be exhibited at the museum from 18 December 2027 to 5 March 2028, with the dates subject to confirmation.

The competition has three categories covering printed and digital poster design. Category A accepts printed posters on any subject, including commissioned, self-initiated, published and unpublished work. Entrants may submit up to three works, each consisting of a single poster or a series of up to three posters. Category B invites self-produced printed posters exploring the theme FACE. Up to two individual posters may be submitted, each incorporating the word FACE in Latin letters and the credit IPT2027.

The U30+Student category follows the same FACE theme but accepts digital submissions from younger designers and students. Each entrant may submit up to two individual posters, which must include the required FACE and IPT2027 text. Categories A and B require online registration followed by postal delivery of the printed posters, while U30+Student entries are submitted as high-resolution JPEG files through the online portal. A national jury will select works for the exhibition, after which an international jury will determine the prize winners.

Entry fee: Entry is free in all three categories. Applicants submitting printed posters must cover printing, postage and any applicable customs expenses.

Eligibility

Open to entrants worldwide submitting their own posters produced on or after 1 February 2024; Categories A and B have no age restrictions, while U30+Student is limited to applicants born in 1996 or later or students of any age, who may not also enter Category B.

Categories A and B share a prize pool comprising one Grand Prix of ¥1,000,000, two Gold Prizes of ¥500,000 each, three Silver Prizes of ¥300,000 each and eight Bronze Prizes of ¥100,000 each. The U30+Student category offers one Gold Prize of ¥200,000, three Silver Prizes of ¥50,000 each and up to ten Bronze Prizes consisting of award certificates. Works selected through the judging process will be exhibited at the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design.
