The Communication Arts Design Competition 2027 is an annual juried graphic design competition organized by Communication Arts. It invites designers to submit communication-design projects for review by a jury of design professionals, providing a structured benchmark for contemporary work across professional and student practice.
The competition covers packaging, trademarks and logotypes, identity guides, integrated branding programs, business papers, annual reports, brochures, catalogs, posters, editorial design, books, self-promotion, motion graphics, public service design, environmental graphics, personal announcements, calendars, menus, miscellaneous design and student work.
Entries are assessed within dedicated design categories, allowing projects ranging from individual posters and identities to extensive branding systems and motion work to be evaluated in an appropriate context. The breadth of the program makes it relevant to studios, independent designers and students working across different forms of visual communication.
Entry fee: Entry fees start at US$45 for professional entries and US$20 for student entries; fees vary by format and category, with a US$10 late fee per submission after the regular deadline.
Eligibility
Open to entrants worldwide submitting design projects first printed, published or aired from May 2026 through May 2027; non-English work requires an English translation, AI text-to-image generated submissions are not accepted, and Student Work must be created for a school assignment, be original or use third-party content with appropriate rights, and cannot be personal unpublished work.
Prize
There is no cash prize; each winning entrant receives a personalized Award of Excellence milled from solid aluminum, with award certificates issued for firms, individuals and clients, and winning entries are featured in the Communication Arts Design Annual in print and digital editions and on commarts.com.
