Young Package is an international competition in packaging design. Since its foundation in 1996, the Young Package competition has achieved an international reputation and a distinctive position among competitions for young designers.

The topic of Young Package 2018 is: Coffee Mania.

Design a package that responds to the ever-present coffee phenomena. The organisers are seeking for a package design not only for coffee by itself but for everything that belongs to it. The designs accepted in the competition are especially those made of corrugated and smooth cartoon or other paper materials, widely used in packaging design.

    There are two categories:

    • University students and designers of any age
    • High-school students

The material used must be a material that can be polygraphically processed and of the type used by the company Model Obaly, mainly a whole range of corrugated cardboard, smooth and mock-up board.

Model Obaly also uses polypropylene films, further printed and formed, and packaging made of a smooth cardboard. Designs combining both the cardboard and the polypropylene film shall be accepted for the competition. Model Obaly processes other types of paper and cardboard that may be used for competition entry (detailed description of materials and their properties can be found on the competition's website).

    There is no entry fee.

Open worldwide to students and designers of any age.

The winners will receive 6,000 EUR (approx. 7,070 USD) altogether and one of the winners will also be chosen for a three-week remunerated internship at the Model Obaly Innovation Centre.

The Award ceremony will be held on September 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic.
