    Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2019 calls for unique animation works with high potential and strong messages, both feature and short animation, from all over the world. Its aim is to screen high-quality animation works superior in originality, provide opportunities to inspire audience as well as creators, cultivate new talents, and contribute to the development and promotion of animation cultures and industry.

    There are two categories:

    Feature Animation Film (60 mins long or over)
    Short Animation Film (shorter than 30 mins)

    Any animation works longer than 30 min. but less than 60 min. shall be applied to the category of Feature Animation first.

    If the work contains dialogues in any language other than Japanese, please submit your film with English subtitles and an English time-coded dialogue list.

    The copyright of the work submitted belongs to each applicant.

    There is no entry fee.

    Eligibility


    Open to any animated film (regardless of country of origin, and whether it is professional, amateur or student work) completed on, or after, January 1, 2017.

    Work that has been theatrically released, broadcast, or distributed for profit in Japan for a certain period prior to March 7, 2019 is not eligible for the competition. Screening at film festivals and previews are not considered “for profit” herein.

    Prize


    Grand Prize (both for Feature and Short): cash award of 500,000 Yen (approx. 4,520 USD)
    Award of Excellence (both for Feature and Short): cash award of 100,000 Yen (approx. 900 USD)

    The Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2019 will take place from 8 to 11 March, 2019.
