NordArt 2027 is accepting applications from artists worldwide for its international contemporary art exhibition in Büdelsdorf, Germany. Running from 5 June to 3 October 2027, the exhibition takes place at the historic Carlshütte iron foundry, with 22,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space and an 80,000-square-metre sculpture park. Organised by the non-profit cultural initiative Kunstwerk Carlshütte since 1999, NordArt brings together more than 200 selected artists each year.
The open call welcomes a wide range of contemporary visual art, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography and video art. Applicants can submit up to 10 images of proposed works, with details of each piece, including its title, year of creation, technique and dimensions. Video artists can provide links to their work. Artists planning to create or install a project on site can also apply for the Artist in Residence option, submitting a proposal outlining their concept, timeframe and material requirements.
Applications can be made online, by email or by post, although NordArt recommends using its online application form. An artist's CV and documentation of the proposed works are required. A jury of curators, artists, an art historian and supervisory board members will review submissions by mid-February 2027, with the list of participating artists scheduled for publication on 1 March. Selected artworks must arrive at the exhibition venue by 16 April 2027. NordArt provides insurance from arrival until collection and normally handles the installation of the works.
Entry fee: Free to enter. There is no application or submission fee. Selected artists are responsible for the cost of transporting their artworks to and from the exhibition venue.
Eligibility
Open to artists worldwide working in contemporary visual art, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video art and related artistic disciplines.
