The BBA Artist Prize 2027 is an international contemporary art competition organized through BBA Prizes and hosted by BBA Gallery in Berlin. The open call welcomes work across contemporary artistic media and has no prescribed theme, allowing artists to submit practices ranging from painting and sculpture to photography, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, video art and performance.
Entries are reviewed by a professional jury whose assessment considers qualities including visual strength, storytelling, conceptual thinking, technical craftsmanship, subject depth and artistic vision. Artists can submit up to five artworks, accompanied by supporting information including an artist statement, CV and exhibition history.
The competition provides a juried route into BBA Gallery's Berlin-centered art program and professional network. Its broad approach to media and themes makes the BBA Artist Prize relevant to artists working across traditional, experimental and multidisciplinary contemporary practices while giving selected work a platform within the gallery's curatorial activities.
Entry fee: €39 per entry, covering submission of up to 5 artworks with up to 5 images of 3 MB each.
Eligibility
Open to living artists aged 18 or older of any nationality and working in any medium, provided they are the sole creator and owner of the submitted works, do not have exclusive gallery representation, and are not relatives of jury members, gallery employees, or artists/photographers already represented by BBA Gallery.
Prize
First Prize receives €1,000, an Artsy profile, a solo exhibition at BBA Gallery and online promotion including newsletter, press and social media; Second Prize receives €700, an Artsy profile and the same online promotion; Third Prize receives €500, an Artsy profile and the same online promotion; and the Audience Award receives €300, an Artsy profile and the same online promotion.
