Anima 2027, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival, is now inviting animated film submissions for its 46th edition, taking place in Brussels from 19 to 28 February 2027. Organised by Folioscope, the festival combines an international professional focus with a broad public programme and a strong family audience.

The competition is open to animated works across several formats, including feature films, children’s features, international professional shorts, student shorts, children’s shorts, national shorts and virtual reality short films. The call is aimed at filmmakers and producers working with animation in any technique, format or origin, provided the films meet the stated completion-date requirement.

For animation creators, Anima offers a focused festival platform in Belgium with international reach and industry visibility. The festival is also an Academy Award-qualifying festival for Best Animated Short Film, and British short films selected in its competitions may also be eligible for BAFTA consideration.

Entry fee: Free to submit films before the October 2, 2026 deadline.

    Eligibility

Open to animated films completed after June 2025 in the eligible competition categories, regardless of format, origin or technique.

    Prize

Winners in the main competition categories receive cash prizes and an Anima Uō trophy, a unique piece designed by artist Peggy Boursin; the accessible 2027 call confirms the prize structure but does not publish detailed 2027 prize amounts for every category.
