The Ingram Prize, celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2025, is an annual art award designed to support and showcase emerging visual artists. Established by The Ingram Collection, the UK’s leading publicly accessible private collection of Modern British and contemporary art, the prize offers talented artists significant exposure in London’s vibrant art scene. This highly regarded purchase prize specifically seeks to recognize and acquire outstanding contemporary artworks, further enriching The Ingram Collection’s already impressive portfolio.
Open exclusively to artists within five years of graduation from UK-based art schools, the Ingram Prize provides a unique platform for early-career artists to gain visibility, professional recognition, and career advancement opportunities. Shortlisted artists benefit from inclusion in a curated group exhibition at a prominent London gallery, attended by influential curators, collectors, critics, and art enthusiasts. The exhibition not only showcases diverse contemporary practices, from painting and sculpture to video and installation, but also positions participating artists within the broader context of contemporary visual arts in the UK.
Committed to nurturing the next generation of artistic talent, the Ingram Prize goes beyond traditional prize formats. Winners have their shortlisted artworks acquired and permanently housed within The Ingram Collection, ensuring long-term public exposure and curatorial attention. Additionally, the prize offers one selected artist an exclusive solo exhibition at the acclaimed Lightbox Gallery & Museum in Woking, Surrey, scheduled for 2026. Through this extensive support, the Ingram Prize continues to play a pivotal role in the discovery and promotion of emerging visual artists, solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone of contemporary art prizes in the United Kingdom.
