Derwent, renowned pencil manufacturers, are proud to announce the sixth instalment of The Derwent Art Prize. Artists are invited to submit up to 6 images. The submitted work must be created in pencil. You can use any pencil including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or coloured pencils.

The work must not exceed 182cm in its greatest dimension. There is no minimum size limit. Only works produced within the last 3 years are acceptable.

This year’s entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of selectors including a gallery curator, a leading artist and an art critic. Copyright of all works remains the property of the artist.

There is an entry fee of 15 GBP (approx. 20 USD) for the first work and 5 GBP (approx. 6.80 USD) per additional works.

Eligibility

Open to artists over the age of 18 years old on 1st January 2022.

Prize

• First Prize: 4,000 GBP plus a year’s supply of Derwent products
• Second Prize: 2,000 GBP
• Young Artist First Prize (for artists under 25 years): 4,000 GBP
• Young Artist Second Prize (for artists under 25 years): 2,000 GBP
• People’s Choice Award: 500 GBP
