The Biodiversity Drawing Contest 2025, organized by the Municipality of Vila Real, Portugal, is an international competition dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the natural world. This contest invites artists, illustrators, and nature enthusiasts to create detailed and expressive depictions of wildlife, flora, and natural habitats. By combining science and art, the competition serves as a platform for showcasing biodiversity through artistic talent while encouraging conservation and environmental education. With a strong emphasis on both scientific accuracy and creative interpretation, the Biodiversity Drawing Contest contest has become a significant event for those passionate about nature and artistic expression.

The competition features two distinct categories: Scientific Drawing and Nature Drawing. The Scientific Drawing category is designed for artists who aim to depict species with precision, ensuring that their illustrations serve as valuable tools for scientific communication, identification, and education. These drawings must adhere to strict anatomical accuracy, capturing the intricate details of plants, animals, and ecosystems. On the other hand, the Nature Drawing category allows for a more expressive and imaginative approach, enabling artists to highlight the beauty, movement, and essence of wildlife through creative compositions. Both categories celebrate the role of art in promoting environmental awareness and deepening public engagement with biodiversity.

The Biodiversity Drawing Contest is a global initiative that fosters connections between artists, researchers, and conservationists. By participating, artists contribute to an ongoing dialogue about the importance of preserving ecosystems and protecting endangered species. The contest not only provides a platform for artistic recognition but also aligns with international efforts to increase awareness of biodiversity loss and climate change. Open to artists worldwide, this competition continues to inspire individuals to observe, understand, and illustrate the natural world with a renewed sense of appreciation and responsibility.
