The Italian Cultural Association Tapirulan is proud to announce the fourteenth edition of its International Contest for Illustrators.

The theme for this year is CAOS (Chaos).

For someone it represents the origin of all things, for others it is only the state in which they find at their own desk; for someone it is a mathematical and physical theory, for others it represents the emblem of the society in which we live.

If at this moment your mind appears empty and you have no idea of what you could draw to participate in the competition, don’t worry, this is Chaos too, a primordial state of emptiness, a (creative) darkness that precedes the realization of a magnificent illustration.

Any work must be square-shaped, not smaller than 25x25 centimetres and not bigger than 40x40 centimetres. If it is put in a frame this should not be thicker than 3 millimetres. In case of a digital image it should be 31x31 centimetres (300 dpi – JPG format – best quality).

Any medium and technique are allowed. Every candidate is allowed to submit only one brand-new work. Works which have been awarded prizes or merits previously will not be accepted.

Entry fee is 15 EUR (approx. 17.50 USD).

    Eligibility

Open worldwide to anyone. There is no age limit, however underage candidates need parents' authorization.

    Prize

The jury – presided this year by Guillermo Mordillo – will decree the winner of the first prize of 2,500 EUR (approx. 2,920 USD). The jury will also choose the 48 authors to exhibit in Cremona and Genoa, starting from 8 December 2018, and among the 48 works selected, 12 will also be published on Tapirulan Calendar.

Moreover, all the registered subscribers will also be able to express their preferential votes. The artist who will get most of the votes will be awarded a 500 EUR prize (approx. 580 USD).
