Now in its 31st anniversary, Morisawa Type Design Competition has been giving birth to a new typeface design (Kanji and Latin) for decades since 1984.
Through entries with bold ideas and new attempts in anticipation with unprecedented expressive capacity, the recent competitions held in 2012 and 2014 have received more than 1,000 entries sent from over 20 countries and regions.
There are two categories:
• Kanji category
• Latin category
Either or both categories may be chosen. There is no limit to the number of submissions per entrant. Entry works must be submitted in a PDF file.
Registration and entry submission will open on May 1, 2016.
There is no entry fee.
Eligibility
Open to any individual, group or nationality.
Prize
Awards will be announced in several categories, and the best Kanji and Latin typefaces will be both awarded with 1,000,000 YEN (approx. 8,290 USD).
Moreover, the general public will be invited to cast a vote for a favorite entry work online starting in the middle of October.
