The 33rd San Diego Latino Film Festival Poster Competition invites artists, photographers, illustrators, and graphic designers from around the world to create a signature visual identity for one of the most influential Latino film festivals in the United States. The competition seeks a poster that powerfully reflects Latino, Latinx, and Latin American culture while capturing the cinematic spirit and community-driven mission of the festival. By serving as the festival’s primary visual symbol, the winning design must resonate with diverse audiences and communicate the festival’s celebration of film, art, and cultural storytelling.
Beyond functioning as promotional artwork, the poster is expected to embody the emotional depth, artistic vibrancy, and cultural richness that define the San Diego Latino Film Festival. Designers are encouraged to incorporate themes connected to Latino heritage, independent cinema, creative expression, and cross-cultural dialogue. The poster should be both visually compelling and conceptually strong, offering a memorable image that translates effectively across multiple media, including print advertising, digital campaigns, merchandise, and on-screen festival presentations.
The competition also serves as a platform for emerging and established creators to gain international exposure. Each year, the festival attracts filmmakers, industry professionals, cultural organizations, and thousands of attendees, giving the selected poster significant visibility. By participating, artists join a longstanding tradition of creative collaboration and help shape the visual narrative of a respected cultural event that champions Latino voices in global cinema.
