First declared on June 29, 2007 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, World Industrial Design Day has been established to mark the development and evolution of industrial design throughout the course of its history. Aim of the contest is to design a poster that illustrates the importance industrial design has in helping humanity. The poster can be a creative illustration or an illustration of the design of a product that captures this year's theme "Industrial Design: Humane solutions for a resilient world". Competition is open exclusively to design students enrolled in an Icsid Member School at no fee. The winning designer will have his/her poster utilised as the official World Industrial Design Day 2010 poster. This entails having the poster exhibited at numerous events throughout the world and in all corresponding online and print media.

   
 

AWP International Poster Contest

The Alexander Wilson Project is the UK's hottest new interactive film drama. We need a new AWP poster for getting up around the global village - our last poster made it into the set dressing on Chris Morris’s new film - who knows where this one will end up... Make your master file at a size suitable for printing: 210mm × 297mm at 300 dpi ideally but you will need a lower resolution version for entering. The winning entry will be awarded a $75 Amazon token. The competition is open to anyone, worldwide. The winner will be chosen by votes from the AWP community - voting closes 12th March. The winning design will be distributed far and wide as an AWP poster and T-Shirt. No entry fee.

   

3x3 International Illustration Call For Entries

The 3x3 magazine mission is to spotlight the best international artists working today and encourage a new focus on the use of illustration by the advertising and design communities. Every year they organize an international contest to discover the world's best contemporary illustrators. This year’s categories include advertising, animation, books, editorial, fashion, gallery, institutional, medical, self-promotion, sequential, three-dimensional and unpublished. Children’s books, published and unpublished, have a separate call for entries with a deadline of April 16. All entries must have been completed between January and December 2009. Entry fees: Single Entry $30 each, Series Entry $35 each (a series consists of a minimum of three to a maximum of five images with a similar theme). If your work is selected there will be an additional publication fee of $45 per entry, single or series, for inclusion in their annual.

International Triennial Of Stage Poster Sofia 2010

The aim of the Triennial is to present the most noteworthy achievements of artists all over the world, working in the field of poster devoted to the various performing arts: drama theatre, opera, ballet, operetta, musical, circus, puppet theatre, pantomime, concerts, festivals, variety shows, etc. Posters created in the period April 30, 2007 – April 30, 2010 are eligible for the Triennial. Minimal format A2 (420x594mm). Each artist may submit up to 4 posters. There is no entry fee. The Sixth International Triennial of Stage Poster will be held in October–November 2010 at the National Exhibition Centre of Modern Art, Sofia (Bulgaria).

   

The Icon Prize Book Cover Art Contest

The Icon Prize is hosting its inaugural competition to select the cover art for the actual re-publication of a literary work. You are invited to participate in an open competition to provide the cover art for the re-publication of the widely-praised literary novel, The Unfastened Heart. The winner of this contest will be awarded The Icon Prize, and will receive $1500 in award money, with his or her artwork to be featured on the new edition of the novel. Participants may enter for consideration graphic art, paintings, photographs, collage art and other visual media based on the novel by submitting a digital photograph of the work (in jpg or jpeg format). This contest is open to anyone, worldwide, and designers/artists of varying backgrounds and experience are welcomed. There is no entry fee. Designers/artists may submit more than one entry. Early entries are encouraged. Film rights have sold to Columbia Pictures.

   

UNESCO International Poster Competition

The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2010, International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, and has defined three main dimensions: dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation. UNESCO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations entrusted with the mandate to build “the defences of peace in the minds of men," has been designated as lead agency of the Year within the UN system. Participants of the competition are invited to express their vision and understanding of the "Rapprochement of Cultures" by designing posters that creatively emphasize the importance of exchange and dialogue among and between cultures in ensuring social cohesion and harmonious coexistence. Designers have complete creative liberty. 50 posters will be selected for display in an online gallery linked to UNESCO's website dedicated to the celebration of the International Year 2010. From 50 selected posters, 30 posters will be printed for an exhibition to be held at UNESCO HQ in May 2010 in the framework of the UNESCO International Festival of Cultural Diversity. From the 30, UNESCO will select an Overall Winner who will receive a $2000 cash prize plus an invitation from UNESCO to attend the poster exhibition at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in May 2010.

Marie Claire & IED Barcelona announced their first Fashion Illustration Contest. If you like fashion and are driven by illustration, this is your chance. Take part in our fashion illustration competition and win a 2010 summer course in Creative Illustration or Introduction to Fashion Design. Participants are welcome worldwide with or without studies in fashion design. Free technique: watercolour, acrylic, felt-tip pen or pencil (individually or combined). Poster Clash 2010

Poster Clash is a new breed of poster competition. Not only will a select panel of judges moderate the entries, but the final decisions are in your hands with head-to-head voting online and at the Poster Clash Main Event, March 18th 2010. A national panel of judges will judges all the entries and narrow down the field to 64 posters to contend in the Clash. The judging will be based on the individual style and taste of the judge, as well as completion of the requirements. Those 64 contestants will enter an online competition where the public will be able to cast their votes in a head-to-head match up system drawn at from the results of the judging process. Concept: Change One Thing. The concept for this year’s Poster Clash is the line: "Change one thing", From the simplest action of changing to compact florescent bulbs, to more in-depth changes such as political parties and life habits, motivating change in visual communication is one of the most basic and fulfilling aspects of the communication profession. Open worldwide. Entry fees are 5.00 USD for students, and 10.00 USD for professionals.

   

The Left Hand Of God Artwork Contest

Don’t Panic has teamed up with Penguin books for the chance to design artwork for their biggest fiction launch of the decade, The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman. To celebrate the publication of this must-read book, we have launched a visual design competition, for which the winner will have their artwork printed on the infamous Don’t Panic poster (that’s 80,000 A2 posters) and also the chance to have their artwork included in The Left Hand Of God paperback. What we are looking for is an artistic representation of the lead character Thomas Cale, who you can get to know through a selection of excerpts on our site. The top ten entries submitted will be put into the winner’s shortlist to be judged by Penguin with the top three entries given the chance to win some fantastic prizes including £350 worth of books, having your design printed on the Don’t Panic poster for August, and the opportunity to have it printed in the Left Hand of God paperback edition. Entry is free and open worldwide.
