Earth is a blue planet, with oceans covering more than 70% of its surface. Oceans play a central role in regulating Earth’s climate and act as a buffer that protects us from human-caused global warming; but oceans are feeling the heat. Organised by From the Bow Seat, this year's contest asks you to explore the theme Climate Hope: Transforming Crisis, and call for young artists, thinkers, and activists who are concerned about the future of our human and natural communities to use their creative voices to explore, express, and advocate for issues related to climate change and our oceans. There are six categories: • Visual Art • Poetry • Prose • Film • Music • Interactive and Multimedia An individual or group (ranging from two people to an entire class of students) may submit art. Each Individual or Group who submits to the contest must have one or more adult sponsors (usually, sponsors are teachers, a parent, or a mentor). Any student may submit (i.e., have their name included in) only one entry per category. There is no entry fee. Eligibility: Open to students in middle school or high school worldwide (or International or Homeschool Equivalent). Prize: Awards will be presented in each of the categories at both the Junior and Senior divisions: • Gold Award: 1,000 USD (Junior) and 1,500 USD (Senior) • Silver Award: 750 USD (Junior) and 1,000 USD (Senior) • Bronze Award: 250 USD (Junior) and 500 USD (Senior) • Honorable Mention: 100 USD (Junior) and 250 USD (Senior) Moreover, there are several additional Awards available in 2020!
