Now in its 32nd anniversary, Morisawa Type Design Competition has been giving birth to a new typeface design for decades since 1984. Through entries with bold ideas and new attempts in anticipation with unprecedented expressive capacity, the last competition in 2016 received more than 700 entries from 49 countries and regions. There are two categories: • Kanji category • Latin category Either or both categories may be chosen. There is no limit to the number of submissions per entrant. Entry works must be submitted in a PDF file. Those submitting their designs to the competition retain the copyrights for their works. Registration and entry submission will open on November 1, 2018. There is no entry fee. Eligibility: Open to any individual or group worldwide. Prize: Awards will be announced in several categories, and the best Kanji and Latin typefaces will be both awarded with 1,000,000 YEN (approx. 8,970 USD). Moreover, the general public will be invited to cast a vote for a favourite entry work online.
