Cultural Association Tapirulan, with the sponsorship of Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza, Associazione Illustratori and Sarmede – Paese della fiaba, is proud to announce the eighth edition of the contest for illustrators.

Purpose of the competition is to select the forty authors to be included in the exhibition «Gli illustratori di Tapirulan» (The illustrators of Tapirulan), to be held in Cremona (Italy) from December 1 2012 to January 27 2013.

Execution techniques are free. Any work must be square-shaped, not smaller than 25x25 centimetres and not bigger than 40x40 centimetres. In case of a digital image it should be 31x31 centimetres (300 dpi – JPG format – best quality).

The theme is "buffet". The world revolves around a table. Whether laid gorgeous and elegant or informal does not matter, because buffet is a convivial moment par excellence, the scene of fierce fighting between greedy and hungry people determined to hoard as much food as possible. But also the perfect opportunity for new and sometimes unexpected encounters: to weave interesting relationships, either bizarre or boring, maybe even to find the great love of life.

Every candidate is allowed to submit only one brand-new work. Neither prize-winning works nor works previously mentioned for merit will be accepted.

Illustrators from all over the world can enrol. There is no age limit however underage candidates need parents' authorization.

The jury will select 40 works to be published in the catalogue and to be displayed in the exhibition. Among the 40 works selected, 12 will also be published on the 2013 calendar of Tapirulan. Then a 2,000 Euro prize (approx 2450 USD) will be awarded. These 40 works will then be published on line on the contest’s website.

All the registered subscribers will be able to express their preferential votes. The artist who will get most of the votes will be awarded a 300 euros prize (approx 370 USD).
