Granshan 2014 Type Design Competition
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Typographische Gesellschaft München call for entries for Granshan 2014 7th International Competition for Non-Latin Typefaces.
The characters of written script are totally linked to the cultural memory of any society and form an integral part of its DNA. And while Latin scripts still dominate the global day-to-day life, the future lies in the diversity of local worlds of script.
The 7th Granshan Competition brings together the power of local and international scripts. And this year, for the first time, Thai and Korean languages have been included, for a total of 9 categories:
• Armenian text typefaces
• Arabic text typefaces
• Chinese text typefaces
• Cyrillic text typefaces
• Greek text typefaces
• Indic text typefaces
• Thai text typefaces
• Korean text typefaces
• Display typefaces
Eligible are all typefaces that have been designed or digitized after 2012 and meet the competition requirements.
All submitted fonts must comply with and use the Unicode encoding system. Submissions can be single fonts or type families.
Entry fee: 20 Euro (approx. 27 USD)
All type designers from all parts of the world are invited to take part in the competition.
In each of the nine categories up to three certificates will be awarded, and a jury of international experts will award the Grand Prize Granshan 2014, including prize money of 1,000 Euro (approx. 1,360 USD).
The jury will meet between September 16th and 19th, 2014 in Barcelona.
The winners will be announced on September 20th, 2014 at the ATypI Gala.
