Mechanika Animation Competition
Animators and Filmmakers are invited to team up with Composers and submit original proposals for collaborative works to be performed and screened in the spectacular underground space of the Brunel tunnel shaft.
The theme of the project, MECHANIKA, is intended to provide inspiration to both animators and composers, bringing to mind the cogs, wheels and mechanisms of Brunel’s Industrial Age. However, the brief is not aimed to be restrictive, especially in terms of style, and interpretations of the brief are encouraged to be as wide ranging and personal as possible.
Initially, collaborative partners are invited to submit a proposal for their new work along with examples of previous work. From these, ten ideas will be selected to go forward, all of which will be recorded and performed 42ft under the banks of the Thames in the Brunel tunnel shaft.
There is no entry fee.
Anyone based in the UK is eligible to enter, regardless of age.
The winning project will be judged by an expert panel and awarded £600 to split between the collaborators.
